<\/span>What Is a Layer 2 Blockchain?<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Quick version: Ethereum is the main blockchain. A few years ago it got very busy and expensive \u2014 sometimes $50 just to make one transaction. So developers started building “Layer 2” blockchains that sit on top of Ethereum and handle transactions faster and cheaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Base \u2014 all Layer 2s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investor pitch was simple: as Ethereum grows, Layer 2 tokens grow with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
