Today, around&nbsp;<strong>two-thirds of eurozone card payments<\/strong>&nbsp;are handled by international schemes. The ECB-backed standards will be&nbsp;<strong>free to use<\/strong>, unlike current proprietary systems that charge fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Western Union to launch stablecoin USDPT<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Western Union<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ir.westernunion.com\/investor-relations\/financial-information\/quarterly-results\/default.aspx\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ir.westernunion.com\/investor-relations\/financial-information\/quarterly-results\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">is&nbsp;moving deeper<\/a>&nbsp;into crypto with plans to&nbsp;<strong>launch USDPT, a Solana-based stablecoin, next month.<\/strong>&nbsp;The stablecoin is meant for settlements between Western Union and its agents,&nbsp;<strong>not as a direct consumer product.<\/strong>&nbsp;It is being positioned as an alternative to SWIFT for faster settlement flows.<br><br>The company will&nbsp;<strong>also launch a digital asset network that connects crypto wallets with its global network<\/strong>. This would allow millions of wallet users to convert digital assets into local currency.
