Think Before You Click: A Security Advisory from Mudrex

In light of recent events in the Indian crypto space, Mudrex would like to proactively remind our community of a few critical safety practices and ensure that every user knows exactly where to find us, and where not to.

Fraudsters are increasingly impersonating well-known crypto brands to exploit unsuspecting users.

This blog serves as your official, one-stop reference for every legitimate Mudrex touchpoint. Bookmark it, share it, and refer back to it whenever you’re unsure.

How These Scams Typically Work

Understanding the playbook that scammers use is the first step to protecting yourself. Here’s how impersonation scams in the crypto space typically unfold:

  1. Step 1: Unsolicited Contact
A scammer reaches out to you via Telegram, WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, emails or SMS, posing as a Mudrex representative or customer support agent. They use Mudrex’s logo, branding, and professional language to appear credible.
  2. Step 2: Building Trust
They may start with something seemingly harmless, such as asking you to complete a small task, review a service, or participate in a “special investment opportunity” exclusive to Mudrex users. This is designed purely to build rapport.
  3. Step 3: Directing You to Fake Platforms
Once they have your trust, they share a link to a fake website or app that closely mimics the real Mudrex platform. Any money deposited here goes directly to the scammer.
  4. Step 4: Escalating Payment Demands
They ask for small amounts first, then gradually increase their demands, citing “taxes,” “verification fees,” or “unlock charges” as reasons you need to keep paying before you can withdraw your money.
  5. Step 5: Blocking Withdrawals
When you try to withdraw your funds, they stall, make excuses, and eventually disappear along with your money.

The Golden Rules: What Mudrex Will Never Do

Please read these carefully and save them somewhere accessible:

🚫 Mudrex employees will never initiate contact with you first. No one from Mudrex will ever message you unprompted on Telegram, WhatsApp, Instagram, X, or any other platform to offer investment advice, promote schemes, or ask for any action on your account.

🚫 Mudrex will never ask for payments via QR codes, UPI IDs shared over chat, third-party bank accounts, or any channel outside the official Mudrex app or website.

🚫 No Mudrex employee will ever ask you for your password, PIN, OTP, seed phrase, or any sensitive account credentials, under any circumstances, ever.

🚫 Mudrex will never request KYC documents over WhatsApp, Telegram, email, or social media. All KYC processes happen exclusively within the official Mudrex app or Mudrex website.

🚫 Mudrex does not run investment schemes, guaranteed return programmes, or “task-based” earning opportunities of any kind.

🚫 Mudrex support will never ask you to transfer funds to “secure” your account or to resolve a dispute.

If anyone claiming to be from Mudrex does any of the above, they are likely not from Mudrex and are acting in bad faith.

🎧 Official Support

  1. Support Email: help@mudrex.com

Note: Mudrex support will only reach out to you from this official email domain. Always check the sender’s address carefully before responding to any email claiming to be from us.

How to Protect Yourself

  • Always verify before you act. Before clicking any link, making any payment, or sharing any information, cross-check the source against the official directory above.
  • When in doubt, come to us directly. If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from Mudrex, do not engage with the sender. Instead, reach out to us directly via our official support email or through the Help section inside the Mudrex app.
  • Check the URL carefully. Our only official website is https://mudrex.com/. Scammers often use URLs that are very close to the real thing. A missing letter, an extra hyphen, or a different domain extension (.net, .org, .in) can be easy to miss.
  • Trust the app, not the chat. Every legitimate action related to your Mudrex account, including deposits, withdrawals, KYC, and support, happens inside the official app. If someone is asking you to do something outside of the app, that is a red flag.
  • Never share your OTP. Not with anyone. Not even someone who claims to be a Mudrex employee calling to help you.

If You Think You’ve Been Targeted

If you interacted on a fake or unofficial platform:

  1. File a complaint at your nearest police station. Carry copies of all messages, screenshots of the fake website or app, and your bank or transaction statements.
  2. File a cybercrime complaint online at cybercrime.gov.in and attach all relevant evidence.
  3. Report to us at help@mudrex.com so we are aware and can take action against bad actors misusing our brand.

A Final Word

We built Mudrex to make crypto investing simple, transparent, and trustworthy. Scammers who exploit that trust by impersonating us are a threat to everything we stand for, and to the broader crypto ecosystem in India.

Your safety is not just a feature for us. It is a responsibility.

Stay vigilant. Stay on official channels. And as always, if something feels off, reach out to us before you act.
