Solana Mobile Seeker

• Seeker is Solana Mobile's decentralised mobile ecosystem, built around a crypto-native smartphone and app store.

• It uses a hardware security architecture to enable permissionless app distribution outside conventional app stores.

• SKR is the ecosystem token.

• Supply allocated across device owners, community and ecosystem.

• Used for governance and ecosystem participation.

Pros:

• App store gatekeeping genuinely constrains crypto applications, so the problem is real.

• Device sales create a defined user base with verified hardware.

• Direct developer-to-user distribution avoids platform fee extraction.

Cons:

• Hardware businesses are capital intensive with thin margins and long cycles.

• The predecessor device sold in modest volumes relative to the smartphone market.

• Competing with Apple and Google on mobile distribution is an extremely difficult position.

• Exposure to crypto-native mobile distribution.

• The app store gatekeeping problem is genuine and unsolved.

• Weigh the difficulty of competing in hardware against incumbent platforms.

• A phone with hardware-level key security and an app store that does not gatekeep crypto applications or take platform fees.

• Mobile app stores restrict crypto applications and take large fees on in-app transactions.

• Controlling the device and the store removes both constraints, for however many users buy the phone.

• Developed by Solana Mobile, a subsidiary of Solana Labs.

• Backed by the Solana ecosystem.

• No public ICO. Distributed to device purchasers and through ecosystem allocations.

• Hardware is capital intensive with long development cycles.

• Device volumes are small relative to the smartphone market.

• Incumbent platform competition is formidable.

• Solana ecosystem dependency.
