Canton Network

• Canton Network is a privacy-enabled public blockchain built for regulated financial institutions.

• Each application controls who can see its data, so institutions can transact without exposing positions to competitors.

• CC pays transaction fees and rewards validators and application developers.

• Used for transaction and infrastructure fees.

• Rewards validators and application providers for network contribution.

• Governance sits with the Global Synchronizer Foundation, whose members include major banks and technology firms.

Pros:

• Privacy at the application level is a hard requirement for institutional adoption, not a preference.

• Governance includes named major financial institutions rather than anonymous holders.

• Real institutional deployments rather than pilot announcements.

Cons:

• Institution-controlled governance is a very different model from permissionless chains and may not appeal to crypto-native users.

• Institutional adoption timelines are long and driven by compliance cycles.

• Token value capture depends on transaction volume that is still building.

• Exposure to institutional blockchain infrastructure with real bank participation.

• Privacy architecture addresses the actual blocker to institutional use.

• Weigh that this is institutional infrastructure rather than a retail crypto asset.

• Application-level privacy on a public chain, so two institutions can transact without any third party seeing the terms.

• Financial institutions cannot use public blockchains because their positions and counterparties would be visible to competitors.

• Per-application privacy makes public infrastructure usable without disclosing commercially sensitive information.

• Developed from Digital Asset's Daml technology, founded by Yuval Rooz and Shaul Kfir.

• Governed by the Global Synchronizer Foundation with institutional membership.

• No public ICO. Distributed through validator rewards and ecosystem allocations.

• Institutional adoption timelines are measured in years.

• Governance by named institutions differs sharply from permissionless models.

• Token value depends on transaction volume that is still developing.

• Regulatory changes affecting institutional digital asset use.
